May 1 Welcome to Fern Marie Home

Hello and nice to meet you!

My name is Elizabeth and I am the creator of Fern Marie Home, a blog about creating a unique home, learning new things, and connecting with people along the way. I am a stay at home mom in Brooklyn, New York with my husband Chris, our sweet boy Benjamin and fluffy monster of a cat, Coco. Blogging is new for me but it is something that I have wanted to do for myself for a very long time. After spending the past year staying home because of the global pandemic, the push to finally start my blog has become even stronger. I find myself needing a space where I can catalog the work that I am doing as a stay at home mom, homemaker and crafter of all kinds. When so much of my work gets undone by my tiny agent of chaos that I take care of everyday, I've started to feel a little invisible. By blogging about what I’ve learned in the garden by trial and error or posting about a new layout for the playroom, I’m hopping to make my daily work feel more validating and be something that I can look back on and see all of the hard work I’ve done.

I’ve spent the better part of the past year on line as a reader, viewer, and consumer of social media and want a way to join the authentic conversations that have helped me connect with others when I needed it most. This blog will very much be about my life and who I am as a person, so that will be a new level of vulnerability that I will need to learn, but my hope is that it will also open the door to real connection with others. From honest mom moments to being active on social justice issues, this will be a space that is relatable and hopefully inspiring to get out of our own bubbles, try new things and make some friends along the way.
